Plumbing Insurance Report

According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in 2009, there are some 20,000 illegal gasfitters operating in the UK. As a result, the HSE advised registered fitters to purchase PI insurance to reassure homeowners of their professionalism. And yet, the Coverzones 2009 Plumbing and Heating Insurance Report reveals that 92 per cent of people working in the gas-fitting industry are not covered for damage to customer’s property as a result of their work or the advice that they give. In an industry where work frequently takes place on public property, accidental injury or damage means businesses face many risks during their day to day operations which can be mitigated with the appropriate level of cover. The industry as a whole may be facing trying economic times in 2009 however cutting cover is a false economy and could result in claims which could be crippling for a business.
